Encountering NG0204 error while utilizing the ActivatedRoute within an Angular application

Encountering an issue with ActivatedRoute while running the ng serve command on my Angular project:

Error: NG0204: Can't resolve all parameters for ActivatedRoute: (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?).

Suddenly facing this error after updating Angular, without any previous indication of a problem. The IDE isn't showing any errors either.

import { Routes, RouterModule, ActivatedRoute } from '@angular/router';
@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent,
    PropertyCardComponent,
    PropertyListComponent,
    NavBarComponent,
    AddPropertyComponent,
    PropertyDetailsComponent
  ],
  imports: [
    BrowserModule,
    HttpClientModule,
    RouterModule,
    FormsModule
  ],
  providers: [ActivatedRoute],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]

Seeking advice from ChatGPT, but still unable to resolve the issue. Ideally, it should display a list of properties under path: '', however, I'm stuck with the parameter error mentioned above.

To declare your module, you will need to:

  • Define the routes and specify how the routing should be configured by passing the routes into RouterModule.forRoot(routes)
  • Do not include the ActivatedRoute in providers, unless a custom ActivatedRoute implementation is being provided.
@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent,
    PropertyCardComponent,
    PropertyListComponent,
    NavBarComponent,
    AddPropertyComponent,
    PropertyDetailsComponent
  ],
  imports: [
    BrowserModule,
    HttpClientModule,
    // Include RouterModule with routes
    RouterModule.forRoot(routes),
    FormsModule
  ],
  //Comment out this line
  // providers: [ActivatedRoute],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]

}) export class AppModule{}

Your routes can be set up like this:

export const routes: Routes = [{
 path: '',
 component: AppComponent
}]

In your AppComponent, remember to inject the ActivatedRoute as shown here:

@Component({selector: 'app-root', template: ``})
export class AppComponent {
  constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute){}
}
