`How can I eliminate all duplicate entries from an array of objects in Angular?`

arr = new Array(); arr.push({place:"1",name:"true"}); arr.push({place:"1",name:"false"}); arr.push({place:"2",name:"false"}); arr.push({place:"2",name:"false"}); arr.push({place:"3",name:"false"}); arr.push({place:"3",name:"true"});

I'm curious about the most effective way to eliminate duplicate objects from an array. For instance, if we were to remove duplicates from arr, it would look like...

{place:"1",name:"true"}, {place:"2",name:"false"}, {place:"3",name:"true"}

Answer №1

The most effective approach is to create a function that removes duplicates from an array:

function removeDuplicates<T>(arr: T[]): T[] {
  return Array.from(new Set(arr));
}

However, if you need to define what makes elements unique, you can use a different function:

function removeDuplicatesBy<T, K>(arr: T[], getKey: (item: T) => K): T[] {
  return Array.from(
    new Map(
      arr.map(element => [getKey(element), element])
    ).values()
  );
}

If you are unsure about the key for uniqueness, you can simply use JSON.stringify as the getKey function.
