how to verify if a variable exists in TypeScript

Is there a recommended method for verifying if a variable has a value in TypeScript 4.2? My variable may contain a boolean value. I'm thinking that using if(v){} won't suffice as the condition could be disregarded if it's set to false.

Answer №1

If the variable in your situation can hold a boolean value, it's important to verify its type.

if( typeof v === 'boolean'){ // This code block is executed if variable v is a boolean and has a value }

Alternatively, you can simply check if the variable is not undefined

if( typeof v !== 'undefined'){ // This code block is executed if the variable is not undefined }
