I attempted to execute an art configuration on Metaplex, but I keep encountering the same issue. Despite numerous attempts to modify various settings, the problem persists

Error encountered while compiling TypeScript code on desktop using ts-node to generate art configuration traits:

  • Unable to find module 'commander' or its corresponding type declarations.
  • Unable to find module '@project-serum/anchor' or its corresponding type declarations.
  • Unable to find module '@solana/web3.js' or its corresponding type declarations.
  • Unable to find module 'loglevel' or its corresponding type declarations.
  • Unable to find module 'mime' or its corresponding type declarations.

Detailed error log:

Error reported at line 820 in ts-node/src/index.ts:
TSError: ⨯ Unable to compile TypeScript
Diagnostic codes: [2307, 2307, 2307, 2307, 2307]

Answer №1

Seems like the JS folder hasn't been installed yet.

A while ago, the art generation feature was removed from the Metaplex repository. However, it has been preserved and retrieved from an older repository by Halaprix, and is available here if you still want to use it. https://github.com/halaprix/simple-NFT-generator

Another option would be to try Hashlips, which is currently one of the most popular generators in use. https://github.com/HashLips

To navigate to the deprecated-clis directory in your terminal, type "cd 'the path of deprecated-clis'" followed by installing the dependencies using => yarn install

Answer №3

After running 'yarn install' in the appropriate folder, I found that the solutions provided by others did not work for me. (Note: you can do this directly in the metaplex/js folder [cd metaplex/js; yarn install] or run it from the main folder [yarn install --cwd ~/metaplex/js/]... I opted for the former approach). I encountered an issue with a bash-like tool in Windows (such as cygwin) not functioning properly with ts-node:

cd metaplex/js
ts-node ./packages/cli/src/candy-machine-v2-cli.ts upload \
        -e devnet \
        -k /cygdrive/c/Users/myusername/.config/solana/id.json \
        -cp config.json \
        -c example \
        ./assets

The tool couldn't locate the installed modules and I received the same errors as the original poster. This could possibly be related to Windows filepaths being accessed in a Linux-like environment. I tried using both full and relative paths like:

ts-node /cygdrive/c/nft_tests/metaplex/js/packages/packages/cli/src/candy-machine-v2-cli.ts ...

However, the following method worked on Windows (I wasn't certain if relative paths would work so I stuck with using full paths to simplify things)

cd metaplex/js
ts-node "C:\nft_tests\metaplex\js\packages\cli\src\candy-machine-v2-cli.ts" upload -e devnet -k "C:\Users\myusername\.config\solana\id.json" -cp config.json -c example ./assets
