Issues arise as a result of conflicts between the dependencies of @ionic/angular, Angular 13, typescript,

Current Environment Details:

ionic info

Ionic:

   Ionic CLI                     : 6.18.1 (/usr/local/lib/node_modules/@ionic/cli)
   Ionic Framework               : @ionic/angular 5.8.5
   @angular-devkit/build-angular : 13.0.2
   @angular-devkit/schematics    : 13.0.2
   @angular/cli                  : 13.0.2
   @ionic/angular-toolkit        : 5.0.3

Capacitor:

   Capacitor CLI      : 3.3.1
   @capacitor/android : 3.3.1
   @capacitor/core    : 3.3.1
   @capacitor/ios     : 3.3.1

Utility:

   cordova-res : 0.15.3
   native-run  : 1.5.0

System Information:

   NodeJS : v17.0.1 (/usr/local/Cellar/node/17.0.1/bin/node)
   npm    : 8.1.3
   OS     : macOS Monterey

Note: Angular 13 requires Typescript version equal to or greater than 4.4.2.

@ionic/angular current version is 5.8.5, utilizing @ionic/core version 5.8.5

@ionic/core has a dependency on ionicons version 5.5.3 which does NOT align with the required Typescript >= 4.4.x

To resolve this issue, ionicons has released versions 6 that are compatible with Typescript >= 4.4.x

The challenge lies in @ionic/core requiring the outdated ionicons version (5.5.3). How can we update this configuration so that @ionic/core within @ionic/angular utilizes the latest ionicons dependency (6.0.0) ?

Answer №1

If you're looking to enforce package resolutions, you could give npm-force-resolutions a try. Check it out here

Simply include the following in your package.json file:

"scripts": {
   "preinstall": "npm-force-resolutions",
    ...
},
"resolutions": {
   "ionicons": "6.0.0"
}

Answer №2

The most recent ionic update now supports Angular 12.x.x versions. I suggest trying to revert back to Angular 12.x.x in order to resolve any issues (this advice comes from my project dependency).

Here is the output of running 'npm outdated': https://i.sstatic.net/Jrm81.png And here is the output of 'ionic info': https://i.sstatic.net/MCdJj.png
