The PathLocationStrategy function is designed to work exclusively within a local

I am facing a hash problem in my current project. Interestingly, everything works correctly in the test project. I have searched on Google for solutions but couldn't find any satisfactory answers: Angular2 without hash in the url When I add

{provide: LocationStrategy, useClass: HashLocationStrategy}

It works correctly, but with the hash included. However, when I try to add

{provide: LocationStrategy, useClass: PathLocationStrategy}

It only works on the local version. Unfortunately, the working version doesn't work as expected Is there a way to remove this hash and make it work in my built project?

PathLocationStrategy utilizes HTML5 pushState and relies on the presence of the <base> HTML tag. It is essential to specify what should be added as a prefix to the requested path in order for it to function correctly within your application:

<base href="/" />

To learn more about routing in Angular, you can visit the provided link.

An additional crucial step is to properly route (particularly on the server side) all Angular routes to the base path specified in your index.html file. For instance, in nodeJS, this can be achieved like so:

app.get('/*', (req, res) => {
    res.render('index', {req, res});
});

Alternatively, when using Apache, the following configuration can be employed:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.html$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.html [L]
</IfModule>

Failing to do so may result in situations where upon accessing a URL like www.example.com/path/someThing, the server will erroneously look for the index.html file within the

/var/www/example.com/path/someThing/
directory instead of the correct /var/www/example.com/.

It turns out, my issue was with the hosting provider . I came across a solution on and had to insert the following code into my .htaccess file:

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.html$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.html [L]
</IfModule>

And now everything is working perfectly. Thank you for your assistance!

When configuring your routes, remember to include the pathMatch property like so:

const appRoutes: Routes = [
        {
          path: 'dashboard',
          component: DashboardComponent,
          pathMatch : 'prefix',
          children: [
            {
              path: 'overview',
              component: OverviewComponent,
              pathMatch : 'full'
            },
            {
              path: 'profile',
              component: ProfileComponent
              pathMatch : 'full'
            },
            {
              path: 'settings',
              component: SettingsComponent
              pathMatch : 'full'
            }
          ]
        }
      ];

Make sure that the parent route's pathMatch is specified as prefix.
