Tips for typing a DOM element in TypeScript

Can we use TypeScript to define a DOM element in code? If so, what is the correct syntax? For instance, could we write:

let myDocument: any = document;

Answer №1

In summary, just utilize the document in your script.

The TypeScript compiler already specifies the data types for all DOM nodes. Refer to the documentation on the compiler option --lib regarding the value DOM.

Note: Avoid using let myDocument: any = document. Declaring : any would sacrifice the typing. Instead, use let myDocument = document and let the type of myDocument be inferred from document's type.
