My routes file contains a reference to 'system' which is causing an error in my Visual Studio Code. The error states that it cannot find the name 'system'. I have attached a screenshot for reference: https://i.sstatic.net/W2oD2.png

The reason for this issue is that Typescript is not aware of the System
object.
To resolve this, you need to install the typings for SystemJS
.
npm install @types/systemjs --save-dev
Then, add a reference to the typings in your tsconfig.json
, under the types
section.
tsconfig.json
"typeRoots": ["node_modules"]
"types": ["system"]
If you plan to run this code in the browser, make sure to link the SystemJS
script in your app for System.import()
to work:
index.html
<script src="node_modules/systemjs/dist/system.src.js"></script>
Note:
To optimize performance of your app, you may want to implement lazy-loading (loading only necessary modules). The way you're currently loading modules using System.import()
might not be suitable for lazy loading: Here is the recommended approach
Consider replacing:
path: 'inbox', loadChildren: ()=> System.import('../inbox/inbox.module')
With:
path: 'inbox', loadChildren: 'absolute/path/to/inbox/inbox.module#InboxModule'
