What is the best way to access the data being sent to a router link in Angular?

After navigating to the user page using the router sample below, how can I retrieve the details once it reaches the user page?

I need to verify in my user.component.ts that the navigation is triggered by this [routerLink]="['user', user.id, 'details']"

[routerLink]="['user', user.id, 'details']"

Answer №1

Make sure to stay updated on any modifications to the route.

...
import { RouteManager } from '@angular/route-manager';
...
launch(
    private routeManager: RouteManager
) {}
...
onRouteLoad() {
    this.routeManager.events.subscribe((event) => {
        if(event instanceof NavigationEnd) {
             // Verify if this.routeManager.url matches the user page's url pattern
        }
    });
}

Answer №2

import { ActivatedRoute } from '@angular/router';

constructor( private activatedRoute: ActivatedRoute, ) {}

orderId: any;
...
ngOnInit() {
   this.activatedRoute.url.subscribe((segments: UrlSegment[]) => {
      for (let i = 0; i < segments.length; i++) {
        this.orderId = segments[i];
      }
    });
}
