What is the best way to transfer information from one column to another column with Office Scripts?

I'm in the process of automation with Microsoft Excel using Office Scripts, and I've hit a roadblock when trying to transfer data from one column to another.

Specifically, I need to move the data from the Date column (D) over to the New_Date column (F).

If anyone could offer assistance or share some code snippets, it would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Answer №1

This script copies the data from Column Date to Column NewDate.

function transferDates(workbook: ExcelScript.Workbook) {
    // Update table name if necessary
    let table1 = workbook.getTable("Table1");
    let sourceRange = table1.getColumn("Date").getRangeBetweenHeaderAndTotal();
    let targetCell = table1.getColumn("New_Date").getRangeBetweenHeaderAndTotal().getRow(0);
    targetCell.copyFrom(sourceRange, ExcelScript.RangeCopyType.all, false, false);
}
