What methods can you use to identify obsolete or inactive code within an Angular project?

For over a year, my team and I have been dedicated to developing an innovative angular application. As we engage in the ongoing process of code refactoring, our objective is to eliminate any unnecessary or obsolete code from our repository.

We are seeking out a reliable technique or tool that can automatically identify and remove this extraneous code from our repository. This would save us valuable time and resources that would otherwise be spent on manual detection methods. Any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Answer №2

It's actually quite straightforward. By executing your application using the " ng serve --aot " command in the CLI rather than just " ng serve ", you will be able to easily identify any unused code fragments (similar to what happens when you utilize the " ng build --prod " command).

Answer №3

When working with VS Code, you can refer to the following link for information on how to handle unused variables in your code: https://eslint.org/docs/rules/no-unused-vars Purpose: The rule helps identify and highlight variables that are declared but not utilized within the codebase, which often indicates an oversight or error during coding. Removing such variables can enhance code readability and reduce confusion for developers.

While there is no automated way to delete unused code, utilizing this extension can be a helpful starting point.

For users of Sublime Text, there isn't a similar feature available as it primarily functions as a text editor without built-in linting capabilities.
