Tips for integrating JavaScript libraries into TypeScript build process in Visual Studio

Is it possible to configure the "TypeScript Build" feature in Visual Studio 2017 to include both Javascript libraries and TypeScript files in the generated bundle.js output?

Answer №1

My approach to handling non-TypeScript code involves creating custom definition files tailored to the specific libraries I plan on utilizing. This workaround may not be a perfect solution, but it gets the job done. For instance, when working with jQuery, I often create a simple declaration like:

declare var $: any;

Although this method lacks type checking, it allows me to seamlessly incorporate non-TypeScript components into my projects.

Answer №2

In my opinion, the best course of action would be to change the file extensions of the javascript library files from .js to .ts
